A Year in Motion, A Mission in Focus

NRWA board president reflects on a whirlwind year—and why apprenticeship is a cornerstone for the future

As I sit here writing this article, it's hard to believe that it's been a year since I was first elected to serve as your NRWA board president. Everything is a blur as I'm still trying to catch my breath wondering where time has gone. Some weeks, I just have to stop and remember what day of the week it is and what time zone I am passing through.

It reminds me of my parents trying to explain something to me so many long years ago—with me not really paying attention, believing, and accepting the truth. I must apologize to our past presidents, David Baird, Steve Fletcher, and Kent Watson; I now believe everything you were trying to tell me about this experience. You know me, I had to find out the hard way! Thank you for allowing me this great opportunity. I have no complaints; I'm truly blessed! I am grateful, as well, that all roads lead me home to East Tennessee, where I serve as the general manager of Alpha Talbott Utility District.
