Source Water Protection Program

The Source Water Protection Program is designed to protect the quality of drinking water in the rural areas of North Dakota. The Source Water Protection Specialist can assist your utility with the land use survey for potential contaminant sources, recommend actions or rules to reduce or eliminate contamination threats, provide contingency planning and public outreach education.

Protecting public health is the top priority in every water and wastewater system in America. Since 1990, the National Rural Water Association and State Rural Water Associations have assisted systems in identifying, controlling, and eliminating pollutants from the nation’s water resources.
